Hey everyone! Welcome back! I haven’t done any recommendations in a while, so I decided to bring it back this week.
Recommendations for the Readers: Overdue
If you enjoy books, then this podcast is something to check out.
I think most bookworms know the “problem” of the never ending TBR (to be read) list. You have overflowing bookshelves or just piles of books, all waiting to be read. Or reread in some cases. Well, that is the “problem” that the hosts of Overdue, Andrew Cunningham and Craig Getting, are trying to overcome. They are reading through their bookshelves and then getting together to share their revelations.
One of the more interesting parts of this is that they take turns reading. So each week, one of them will have read a book. They basically have a conversation with each other about that book on the podcast. They both don’t have to read the book. It isn’t a book club. They will go off on tangents that only sort of relate to the book. However, it is the side pieces that make their podcast so interesting.
They have discussed over three hundred books, including Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and Dracula. It is their podcast that actually partially inspired me to start this book blog.
Note: Don’t expect book reviews in the traditional sense. The podcast is essentially two friends discussing a book one of them has recently read. However, you can get a great sense of the book from their discussions. For example, I don’t think I will ever read Love in the Time of Cholera after listening to their show. It doesn’t sound like my cup of tea.
So on your commute or your early morning jog *yawns loudly at the thought*, download a couple of these Overdue episodes to listen to. They are entertaining and something different to try.
You can probably find their podcast anywhere you normally find podcasts. I personally use Google Play, but their website will have more information.
